How to: Maintain a beard

Step 1: Clean the skin – It is important that you keep the skin underneath the beard clean. Try using a light exfoliating scrub. The “For Men Face Scrub” from Clinique is a good one to use as it is designed to clear away dead skin calls and reduce ingrown hairs.

Step 2: Lather up – If you have a short beard you can get away with washing it with soap. However, if you have a long beard, you can try using a moisturising shampoo. The Brisk Unfragranced Beard Shampoo is designed especially for beard hair. It should be rubbed into a wet beard to create a lather and then thoroughly rinsed out to leave the beard clean, soft and manageable.

Step 3: Nourish with oil – After the beard has been washed, apply a moisturiser to a short beard and a beard oil to a long one. This helps to retain the hair’s natural moisture and prevent split ends and brittle hair.
