Are you a regulatory and compliance leader with expertise across US and EU/UK consumer product markets?
Can you turn complex regulations into practical recommendations that help product teams make confident decisions?
Join a growing family of specialty consumer product brands as Regulatory & Compliance Director or Senior Director. You will take ownership of product and corporate compliance across multiple categories and markets, partnering closely with product development, sourcing and senior leadership.
With international growth and future acquisitions on the agenda, this is an opportunity to shape regulatory strategy and develop a compliance programme that scales with the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own regulatory and compliance programmes across candles and fragrance, personal care, juvenile products and stationery in the US and EU/UK.
- Guide product teams on formulation, materials, labelling, packaging, claims and testing from early development.
- Assess product and corporate risk, turning regulatory developments into clear recommendations for senior leaders.
- Monitor evolving requirements including CPSC/CPSIA, FDA/MoCRA, Prop 65, PFAS laws, EPA/TSCA, EU GPSR, Cosmetics Regulation, CLP/REACH, UKCA/UK GPSR and EPR.
- Build robust systems covering safety assessments, testing, certification, documentation and supplier compliance.
- Lead recalls, corrective actions, adverse event handling, and regulatory and retailer enquiries.
- Support M&A due diligence and lead regulatory integration following acquisitions.
- Manage external counsel, laboratories and consultants, develop the compliance team, and report programme status to senior leadership.
Candidate Requirements:
- Extensive regulatory or compliance experience within consumer products, ideally spanning multiple categories.
- Strong working knowledge of US and EU/UK regulatory frameworks, ideally including cosmetics, personal care and children’s products.
- Excellent critical thinking and communication skills, with the ability to research ambiguous regulatory issues and present clear, defensible recommendations.
- Experience influencing product and design teams; exposure to M&A diligence or integration is advantageous. A Bachelor’s degree is required, with a JD, MS or relevant certification preferred.
