How to: Combat adult acne
Step 1: Cleanse the skin – A lot of professional dermatologists recommend using an antibacterial wash or cleanser that contains salicylic acid. There are many products on the market that will all work just as well as each other, but one that I like is the La Roche-Posay Effaclar purifying cleansing gel. It is designed to leave the skin clean and fresh.
Step 2: Use a non-oily moisturizer – After you have cleansed the skin, apply a non-oily moisturiser to the skin. The Elemis biotec skin energising combination day cream is super lightweight so it won’t overload the skin and will deliver high levels of hydration. But again, there are many products that will work just as well.
Step 3: Apply benzoyl peroxide – Look for over the counter products that contain benzoyl peroxide. Most stores will have these. This is to help keep the skin healthy.
Step 4: Protect with an SPF – Try to avoid using heavy makeup during the day allowing the skin to breath. Wearing sunblock helps to lighten acne marks and scars. The Bioderma photoderm spot 50+ is designed to offer protection to skin that is scared or damaged.
Step 5: Visit a GP – If none of the previous steps work, make an appointment with your GP.
