HARD versus SMART
Many people have goals or New Year’s resolutions…some personal, some business…it might be to get fitter, lose weight, spend more time with the family, get a new job, launch a new product, save costs, speed-up production, increase sales or grow their business.
How often do we actually continue through with these? How excited are we to reach our goals and is there a consequence if we fail?
Is it time to change smart goals to hard goals and reach just a little bit or maybe a massive bit higher?
HARD goals are…
They’re much harder to achieve, but the rewards are so much more.
Smart goals are commonly used in business to help give people focus, but do they actually achieve what they set out to do and give the rewards they expect?
SMART goals are…
- Time limited
Does this actually restrict creativity and vision? Does it stop you reaching for the stars, sticking your neck out and pushing hard?
If a goal is truly HEARTFELT you’ll have a burning desire to achieve it. It’ll be the first thing you think of when you wake up and the last thing you think of before you go to sleep.
If it’s alive and ANIMATED in your mind, you’ll be able to see it, taste it, feel it, hear it, smell it. The neurons in your brain will be literally lighting up and dancing about with excitement.
If it’s not REQUIRED then what’s the point? There must be a need for it either for yourself, your business, your community or the world at large…or just don’t bother.
Great things are never easy…they’re by their very nature DIFFICULT. If your goal is realistic, achievable and time limited is it ever going to be that great, push you to your limits or give you the satisfaction you deserve?
Is it time to walk away from smart and push a little harder?
HARD goals are different for everyone and only you can decide what you want from life and how hard you’re prepared to work for them.
If you’ve a goal in mind, if you know what’s important to you then think about it, plan for it and work at it. If you work really HARD you’ll get there and you’ll achieve an incredible sense of satisfaction when you do.
