How to: Maintain a beard
Step 1: Clean the skin – It is important that you keep the skin underneath the beard clean. Try using a light exfoliating scrub. The “For Men Face Scrub” from Clinique is a good one to use as it is designed to clear away dead skin calls and reduce ingrown hairs.
Step 2: Lather up – If you have a short beard you can get away with washing it with soap. However, if you have a long beard, you can try using a moisturising shampoo. The Brisk Unfragranced Beard Shampoo is designed especially for beard hair. It should be rubbed into a wet beard to create a lather and then thoroughly rinsed out to leave the beard clean, soft and manageable.
Step 3: Nourish with oil – After the beard has been washed, apply a moisturiser to a short beard and a beard oil to a long one. This helps to retain the hair’s natural moisture and prevent split ends and brittle hair. Captain Fawcett’s private stock beard oil is designed to be used daily to soothe, moisture and invigorate both skin and facial hair. It is best to put a few drops onto your palm before smoothing into the beard. After the oil has been rubbed in gently comb through for a suave finish.
Step 4: Use a hair trimmer – The Braun beard trimmer BT5050 is, with 25 different length settings, is perfect tool for the job. One of the key features of the Braun is that it is fully washable so its super easy to keep clean. After you wash the trimmer, make sure it is dry to help reduce bacteria build up.
Step 5: Accentuate facial features – It is always a good idea to ask a barber to find out where you should be trimming and where you should be using a razor. The barber should be able to tell you what angles of the face to actuate. The Bluebeards revenge cutlass double-edge safety razor has traditional double-edged blades that glide across the skin to get rid of any hairs that aren’t in the right place. Here are the main points that we should take from this month’s Pure Beauty Magazine:
